United Nation postal service will issue six new stamps on the 1st of August 2001. The stamps will be issued at the same time the Philanippon'01 stamp exhibition is opened, which takes place in Tokyo Japan. This is the seventh United Nations stamp issue to illustrate World Heritage sites. It is the fifth in a series of stamps and booklets focusing on World Heritage sites. World Heritage sites are consider to be of universal value that are common to humanity. Ten sites from Japan have been included on the World Heritage List. Six of those sites are featured in this issue.
These stamps can be purchase in three different booklets (shown above). Each book comes in a different denomination. Either United States, Swiss or Austrian. They consist of 13 pages of text and 6 pages of four stamps each. This issue can also be purchase as singles, sheets, or First Day Covers (FDC). The printing process used to print the stamps is Offset Lithography. And they have a 13.25 x 12.75 perforation size. The six stamps are shown below.
