Barnardos Ireland

The Ireland Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 55 cents named "Barnardos Ireland" on the 11th of October 2012. This new stamp has been issued to honor the work done by Dr. Barnardo who founded and created this children charity organization. He started this organization when he seen the suffering of so many children that were living in the streets and begging for a living in the east end of London. By the time of his death in 1905, the organization created 90 homes which provided care for more than 8,000 children. Since his death, the Barnardos tradition of caring for children has evolved and grown. It is now Irelands leading charity for children and their families.

"Barnardos Ireland" stamp can be purchase as a single, Sheets of 16, and FDC. The size of each stamp is 36mm x 36mm with a perforation size of 13.5 x 13.5 using the 2cm reference. The stamps were printed by Irish Security Stamp Printing Ltd. using the Lithography printing method. A quantity of 174,000 will be printed.
