Irish Animals and Marine Life

The Ireland Postal Service has issued their Seventh Definitive Series with eight new stamps that have a postage value 0.55 Euro named "Irish Animals and Marine Life" on the 21st of July 2011. This Ireland Posts Definitive Series features eight animal species found on the Ireland island and its surrounding waters. With these stamps, they hope to raise public awareness on the importance of conserving biodiversity so that we can all reap the rewards. Phase I of the Series was launched in September 2010 and now this series is Phase II comprising of eight beautiful stamps as shown above. Each of the animals are listed in the table below:

  • Beadlet Anemore (Top Left)
  • Squat Lobster (2nd from Top Left)
  • Cockoo Wrasse Fish (Top right)
  • Common Frog (2nd from Top right)
  • Green Huntsman (3rd from Top left)
  • Elephant Hawk-Moth (Bottom left)
  • Goldfinch Bird (3rd from Top right)
  • Red Deer (Bottom right)

"Irish Animals and Marine Life" stamps can be purchased as two strips of 4, or FDCs. The size of these stamps is 56mm x 25mm with a stamp perforation of 11 x 11.25 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Label Art Ltd. using the HP Indigo high resolution digital printing process.
