150th Anniversary of the Natural History Museum

Ireland Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 55 cents named "150th Anniversary of the Natural History Museum" on the 25th of October 2007. The stamp is being issued to celebrate 150 successful years of the Natural History Museum. It opened to the public in 1857 and is a zoological museum containing diverse collections of world wildlife. The collection comprises over 10,000 animals on display and has a scientific collections of over 2 million specimens that date back to 7000BC. Not only are the animals and scientific collection a wonder, but the building itself is an architectural wonder. Built in Victorian style and housing many of the exhibits in glass enclosures.

"150th Anniversary of the Natural History Museum" stamp can be purchased as a single, Sheet of 12, or FDC. The size of the stamp is 51.46mm x 30mm with a 13.25 x 13.25 perforation using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Irish Security Stamp Printing Ltd. using the Lithography printing process. A total of 330,000 will be printed.
