Celtic Cats

Ireland Postal Service will issued four new stamps with postage values of 55c and 78c named "Celtic Cats" on the 6th of September 2007. The stamps are being issued to reveal the cats of Ireland. Since there are only two Ireland cat species, the Kilkenny cat and the Celtic Tiger cat. They are both presented in an eye-pleasing comic style with some reflections of the aspects of Irish society. Each of the stamps feature the artist's impressions of images representing a Kilkenny Cat (Bottom right), a Celtic Tigress (Top right), a Fat Cat (Top left) and a couple of Cool Cats (Bottom left).

"Celtic Cats" stamps can be purchased in a set of 4, 55c Se-tenant pair, 78c Se-tenant pair, 55c Pane of 16, 78c Pane of 16, Mini-sheet, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 29.79mm x 40.64mm with a perforation of 14 x 15 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Irish Security Stamp Printing Ltd. using the Lithography printing process. The quantity printed is:

  • 55c se-tenant pair, 410,000
  • 78c se-tenant pair, 360,000
  • Minisheet, 35,000
