The Festival of the Children

The Iceland Postal Service has issued 2 new stamps that have postage values of 45 and 60 ISK named "The Festival of the Children" on the 6th of November 2003. These two stamps feature joyful children setting up Christmas decoration in preparation for the Christmas Holiday Celebration. A time when Children are often though of as the true reason for Christmas. A time of year that is celebrated because of the birth of a child who is know as a Christian Savior. A child who grew up in ancient times and gave his life because he promoted love, hope, charity and peace on earth.

These stamps are issued by Iceland Post on this occasion to describe the feelings of joy and anticipation of the children at the approach of the Christmas season. The stamps are unusual in that they are printed in 5 color, while most of the stamps Iceland issues are printed in 4 color format.

"The Festival of the Children" stamps can only be purchased in a booklet of 10 stamps or FDC. Each stamp size is 28 mm x 37.78 mm. The stamps will be printed by Cartor s/a using the five-color Offset Lithography printing process.
