Christmas Decoration

Iceland Postal Service has issued two new Christmas stamps on the 7th of November 2002. The name of the new stamps is "Christmas Decorations." Each of the stamps depict a different Christmas Decoration with a postage value of 45 cents and 60 cents. In Iceland, Christmas has only a few hours of daylight because of it location. Traditionally Iceland begins to celebrate Christmas on the first Sunday of December. Then Christmas decorations will be seen in homes and gardens all around the country. The Christmas tree is not decorated until the day before Christmas, and the lights are turned on when Christmas starts with the ringing of church bells at six o'clock on Christmas Eve.

The Christmas Decoration stamps can be purchase as a single set, Sheet of 10, or FDC. This year a stamp booklet will be issued with domestic postage just before Christmas. Each stamp size is 26 mm x 36.94 mm and the Printer is Cartor S/A using the Offset Lithography printing process.
