Mushrooms VI - Crab Brittlegill

The Iceland Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 173 ISK named "Mushrooms VI - Crab brittlegill" on the 2nd of July 2012. This is a large mushroom with a wine-red cap that grows mainly in grassy woodlands. It is common in Iceland and is mainly know by its shellfish or herring odor. It is often referred to as a herring russula. The mushroom is edible but the flesh becomes soft and the odor grows stronger with age.

"Mushrooms VI - Crab brittlegill" can be purchase as a single, sheets of 10, 4 block FDC, and single stamp FDC. The size of the each stamp is 25mm x 35mm It was printed by Walsall Security Printers using the offset printing process.
