Endangered Birds

The Iceland Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have postage values of 50g for local mail and 50g for Europe mail named "Endangered Birds" on the 27th of January 2011. These stamps depict birds that have been identified as in danger of extinction by World Wide Fund for Nature organization (WWF). Iceland postal service has issued these stamp to celebrate the WWF 50th anniversary. Each of the birds is listed in the table below.

  • Barnacle Goose (Top Left)
  • Common Scoter (Top Right)
  • White-fronted Goose (Bottom Left)
  • Gadwall (Bottom Right)

"Endangered Birds" stamps can be purchased as a single, Sheet of 10, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 42mm x 30.45mm with a stamp perforation of 13 1/4 x 13 3/4 using the 2cm reference. They have been printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print, Holland using the offset Litho printing process with 110gms paper. A total of 120,000 of each stamp will be printed.
