Civil Aviation in Iceland

Iceland Postal Service has issued four new stamps with postage values of 90 and 120 ISK named "Civil Aviation in Iceland" on the 19th of March 2009. Each of the stamps represent aircraft used in civil aviation in Iceland. Each of the aircraft is listed below:

  • Avro 504K - the first airplane used in Iceland that was made in Britain. It arrived in Iceland in 1919.
  • Boeing 757-300 - this jet was added to the fleet in spring of 2002.
  • Waco ZKS-7 - this seaplane arrived in Iceland in 1938 and became part of the newly founded airline Flugfelag Akureyrar. It was used for passenger and postal flights.
  • Fokker 50 - was added to the fleet in 1992 and was part of a renewal of Icelandair's domestic fleet.

"Civil Aviation in Iceland" stamps can be purchased in two separate booklets of 4 or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 26.60mm x 42.58mm . They will be printed by Joh. Enschede using the offset printing process.
