The Royal Visit of 1907 Souvenir Sheet

Iceland Postal Service will issue a new souvenir sheet with one stamp that has a postage value of 250 ISK named "The Royal Visit of 1907" on the 20th of September 2007. This new souvenir sheet is being issued to remember King Frederick VIII royal visit to Iceland in 1907. King Frederick VIII at that time was the King of Denmark and Iceland. He arrived in Reykjavik, Iceland in July 1907 and was invited to a seven day tour of southern Iceland. A celebration was held at Thingvellir with almost six thousand guests attending. The royal party then proceeded to Gullfoss and Geysir. The king also visited the towns of Isafiordur, Akureyri and Seyoisfiordur.

"The Royal Visit of 1907" can be purchased in a Souvenir Sheet of 1, or FDC. The size of the sheet is 79.5mm x 56mm. It will be printed by Post Danmarks Grimaerketrykkeri using the offset and intaglio printing process.
