The International Polar Year 2007-2008

Iceland Postal Service will issue a new mini-sheet with two stamps that have postage values of 75 and 95 ISK named "The international Polar Year 2007-2008" on the 15th of February 2007. The minisheet is being issued to recognize the International Polar year which starts in 2007. Seven other countries will also be issuing a minisheet with two stamps. They include: Greenland, Canada, USA, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The Iceland stamps depict a volcanic eruption in the Vatnajokull glacier and the Radio-Echo Soundings equipment being used to map the landscape beneath the ice-cap.

"The International Polar year 2007-2008" minisheet can be purchased as a mini-sheet, or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 34.8mm x 36mm and the size of the minisheet is 105mm x 70mm . It will be printed by Joh. Enschede Printing using the Offset Printing process.
