Guernsey Postal Services 2011 Issue
Designed by Keith Robinson

Europa Forests

The Guernsey Postal Service has issued three new stamps that have postage values of 45p, 52p and 2 pounds named "Europa Forests" on the 4th of May 2011. These new stamps are this years Europa issue for the theme Forests, which has been chosen by PostEurop to reflect that 2011 has been declared the International Year of Forests.

These stamps were generated from a brand new story book titled Penny and the Dragon, which sees the return of a fictional hero Peny the Postle, illustrated and written by Keith Robinson. Keith has cleverly woven the oak, hazel and horse-chestnut trees into the story book so that it complements the stamps perfectly.

"Europa Forests" stamps can be purchased as a set of 3, Souvenir sheet, sheets of 10, Presentation Pack or various FDC's. The size of the stamps is 35mm x 35mm with a stamp perforation of 13.75 using the 2cm reference. The sheets size is 86mm x 135mm. They were printed by Joh. Enschede using the offset lithography printing process with 110gsm PVA adhesive paper. A special spot varnish technique was also used during the printing process.
