Alderney Dragonflies

The Alderney_Guernsey Postal Service has issued six new stamps that have postage values of 36p, 45p, 56p, 66p, 75p, and 83p named "Alderney Dragonflies" on the 25th of February 2010. These stamps depict six different dragonflies found on the island of Alderney. True enthusiasts should contact kindred spirits at the Alderney Wildlife Trust (www.alderneywildlife.org). Each of the dragonflies on the stamps are listed below:

  • Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum (36p)
  • The Emperor Dragonfly Anax imperator (45p)
  • The Blue-tailed Damselfly Ischnura elegans (56p)
  • The Brown Hawker Aeschna grandis (66p)
  • The Black-tailed Skimmer Orthetrum cancellatum (75p)
  • The Red Veined Darter Sympetrum fonscolombii (83p)

"Alderney Dragonflies" stamps can be purchased as a set of 6, Sheets of 10, Souvenir sheet, Stamp Pack, or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 30.56mm x 38mm with a Perforation size of 13.75 using the 2cm reference. The souvenir sheet size is 100mm x 140mm. They will be printed by BDT International using the Offset Lithography printing process with 110gms PVA Adhesive paper.
