Endangered Species Amur Leopard

Guernsey Postal Service will issue a new mini-sheet with one stamp that has a postage value of 3.00 Pounds named "Endangered Species Amur Leopard" on the 26th of February 2009. This mini-sheet depicts an Amur Leopard which is on the Endangered Species list with not more then 40 individuals remaining in the wild. Its natural habitat of mixed forests are constantly being destroyed by loggers and forest fires. Poaching is also a problem because the spotted skin of this cat is in demand. To save the species these forest areas must be protected and poachers stopped. Efforts are now in effect to save the big cats habitats and to stop poachers from hunting them.

This will be the fifth endangered species mini-sheet issued. The first four were: Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey (2004), Basking Shark (2005), Florida Everglades (2006), Mountain Gorilla (2007), and this issue the Amur Leopard. The first four mini sheets of this series have been withdrawn from sale. But the Guernsey Post has a special Endangered Species Miniature Sheet Album, that contains all these mini-sheets and is available now. For more information about this mini sheet album contact the Guernsey post through their website at www.guernseystamps.com

"Endangered Species Amur Leopard" mini-sheet can be purchased as a single mini-sheet, Presentation Pack, Miniature Sheet Album or FDC. The size of the stamp is 70mm x 60mm with a perforation size of 13.25 x 14 using the 2cm reference. The size of the mini sheet is 84mm x 118mm. It will be printed by Joh Enschede using the offset lithography printing method with 110gms PVA adhesive paper.
