Alderney Resident Birds - Raptors

Guernsey Postal Service will issue six new postage stamps that have postage values of 34p, 40p, 48p, 51p, 53p, and 74p named "Alderney Resident Birds - Raptors" on the 15th of May 2008. This is the third set of birds of prey stamps issued by Alderney. These aggressive birds hunt other animals to satisfy their hunger; and they do it in such a ruthless way that it makes some of us feel sorry for their prey. But in order for these birds to survive, they need a continuous supply of animals, and Alderney with its unpopulated terrain, land and cliffs provides a plentiful menu. The Raptors depicted on each stamp is listed in the table below:

  • Common Buzzard Buteo 34p
  • Peregrine Falcon 40p
  • Kestrel 48p
  • Barn Owl 51p
  • Long Eared Owl 53p
  • Sparrowhawk 74p

"Alderney Resident Birds - Raptors" stamps can be purchased as a set of 6, Sheets of 10, Prestige Booklet, or FDC. The size of the stamp is 30.56mm x 38mm with a Perforation size of 13.75 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by BDT International. using the Offset Lithography printing process with 110gsm paper.
