The Christmas Story

Guernsey Postal Service has issued six new Christmas stamps on the 17th of October 2002. The name of the set is "The Christmas Story." Each of the Christmas stamps portrays a different time in the birth of Jesus. The image and postage value of each stamp is as follows:

  • 22p - Mary and baby Jesus
  • 27p - Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus
  • 36p - Angel announces the birth of Jesus to some shepherds,
  • 40p - Shepherds, Mary, and baby Jesus
  • 45p - Three Kings
  • 65p - Stable where Jesus was born.
In the Gospel according to St. Luke. The angel announced the birth of Jesus to the shepherds using these words:
"Fear not: for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born today in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger"
The Christmas Story is the foundation of Christian religion. Billions of people worship Jesus every day in hope that he will return and make the world into a paradise.
The Christmas Story stamps can be purchase as a mint set, Souvenir Sheet, First Day Cover set or sheet, or Presentation Pack. Each stamp size is 30.56 mm x 38 mm and the Souvenir Sheet size is 130 mm x 102 mm. The perforations size will be 14 using 110 gsm paper with a PVC adhesive. The stamps will be printed by "Cartor Security Printers" using the Offset lithography Printing process.
