Moomin Stamps

Finland Postal Service will issue a new booklet of 6 stamps with postage values of 1st Class (0.65 Euro) named "Moomin" on the 9th of August 2004. The stamps depict pictures in a book named "Moominland Midwinter" written by Ms Tove Jansson (1914-2001). Published in 1958 the happy Moomin characters in this book has brought delight to Children around the world. And to top off this celebrated issue, a special Moomin Post Office will be opened in Finland on June 12 and will stamp all letters with a special Moomin post mark. This special Post Office will remain open until 15 August 2004. The Moonim stamps will be Finland's first stamp issue on flocked paper (Flock paper is paper produce with very short or pulverized fiber used to form a pattern), and the second of its kind to be embossed in the history of Finnish stamps

"Moomin" stamps can be purchased as a single Stamp Booklet, or FDC's. No other information is available at this time.
