Fighting Wood Grouses

The Finland Postal Service has issued a new stamp booklet of ten identical stamps with a postage value of 0.90 Euro named "Fighting Wood Grouses" on the 3rd of March 2003. The stamp depicts a painting by Ferdinand von Wright in 1886 who became renowned for his paintings of birds. The Fighting Wood Grouses painting won him a place among the leading artists of his day. This beautiful painting can be found throughout Finland in homes in a form of hand-painted copies, prints, embroideries and tapestries. The original painting can be seen at the Ateneum Museum of Finnish Art.

The Fighting Wood Grouses stamp can be purchased as a single stamp, booklet of ten stamps, or FDC. The stamp size measures 34.5 mm x 24.50 mm. The stamps will be printed by Joh. Enschede Security Printers, the Netherlands using the 5/1 color gravure printing process with self-adhesive paper.
