Adolf Erik Nordenskiold

Finland Postal Service has issued a new mini-sheet with 2 stamps that has postage values of 1st class named "Adolf Erik Nordenskiold" on the 20th of October 2008. One stamp of the mini-sheet depicts Adolf Erik Nordenskiold and the other shows his ship the Sofia. This is a joint issue with Greenland who also issued the same mini-sheet with Greenland identification. Adolf Erik Nordenskiold was a well known Finnish scientists of he day. He explored the Arctic with his ship Sofia farther then any previous ship. The date 1883 on the stamp refers to the year in which Adolf Erik Nordenskiold and the Sofia sailed to Greenland.

"Adolf Erik Nordenskiold" stamps can be purchased as a mini-sheet, or FDC. The size of the mini-sheet is 165mm x 60mm and the stamp sizes are 28.84 x 33.44mm and 57.68 x 33.44mm. Each stamp has a perforation size of 12.75 using the 2cm reference. It will be printed by Post Danmark Frimaerker using the 4 color offset + engraving printing method with TRA 115 gms paper. A quantity of 300,000 miniature sheets will be printed.
