Faroe Islands Postal Service 2013 Issue
Designed by Martin Morck

The Faroe Islands Postal Service will issued a new mini-sheet with three stamps that have a postage value of 9.00 DDK named "Nordafar" on the 20th of September 2013. This new mini-sheet has three stamps that depict three different views of the fishing industry; and is named after a cod processing plant that was very productive until the cod ran out. Nordafar had a long history of ups and downs until finally in 1990 it was put into liquidation and the assets sold at a forced auction. To learn more about the history of Nordafar go to the Faroe Islands web site listed below

This mini-sheet has a very special feature that has never been seen before on stamps issued by Faroe Islands. Concealed on the stamp in the middle of the mini-sheet is an AR-code. AR means Augmented Reality. This special feature gives you the ability to scan the stamp with your smart phone or tablet which activates the AR-code. This in turn will display a film about Nordafar on your device. This film is short and describes the time when activity at Nordafar was at it highest and what Nordafar is like nowadays. You will need to download a free app called Sepac Stamps to activate AR code.

"Nordafar" stamps can be purchase as a mini-sheet and FDCs. The size of mini-sheet is 165mm x 60mm, and the size of each stamp is 42mm x 27.55mm. It will be printed by Joh. Enschede, Netherlands using the offset/intaglio printing process.
