Faroe Islands Postal Service has issued two new stamps with postage values of 7.50 and 10 DDK named "Gastronomy" on the 18th of April 2005. The stamps feature the Faroe Islands 2005 Europa issue. Each stamp depicts many of the foods eaten in the Faroes years ago. Some of which you may find very strange. The two stamps depict these yummy foods:

• Air-dried lamb
• Coalfish balls
• Lambs testicles
• Kidney spit
• Black pudding
• Semi-dried fish (raest)

• Snaps

• Cod heads
• Roe
• Frest fish
• Stewed Rhubarb
• Junket
• Puffins
• Puffins stuffing with raisins
• Guillemot eggs
• Raisins

Today! times have changed, many international foods are now available in large shopping centers across the Faroes. Because of this the Faroe islanders have acquired an international cuisine, with vegetables, fruit and spices being a normal part of everyday life. But the old Faroese food is still around and eaten with great relish and is regarded as a real delicacy.

"Gastronomy" stamps can be purchased as a set of two, Various blocks of four, Set of sheets of 10, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 72 x 25.95mm with a perforation size of 13. The stamps will be printed by Carter Security Printing, France using the Offset printing process.
