Finland Christmas 2013 Stamp Issue

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Canada, Aland and Finland. Each of their 2013 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Canada issued three new Christmas stamps in 2013 named "Christmas Craft" on October 22, 2013. These three stamps feature Christmas themed work in cross-stitch which is one of the oldest forms of embroidery They were designed by Helene L'Heureus and their postage value is 63 cents, $1.10, and $1.85 They can be purchased in booklets, souvenir sheet and FDCs. The size of each stamp is 22mm x 24mm with a perforation size of 13+ using the 2cm reference. The size of the souvenir sheet is 85mm x 54mm. They were printed by Lowe-Martin using the 7 color Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper.

Aland joined Vatican State in a joint issue of two new stamps named "Nativity of Jesus (left above) and Adoration of the Magi (right above)" on 11th of November 2013. The stamps depict fresco paintings by Pinturicchio that are on display in the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City. There postage values are 0.63 Euro and Julpost (0.63 Euro). They can be purchased as singles and sheets. The size of each stamp is 31.5mm x 36.25mm, with a perforation size of 13 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Joh Enschede Stamps using the four color offset printing process.

Finland issued three new Christmas stamps named "Christmas Tree Boy (left), Christmas Hug (top right), and Angel (bottom right)" on November 4, 2013. This year the Finnish Christmas stamp is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Starting with the Tree Boy stamp which features a small boy carrying home a Christmas tree in blue-hued snowfall; while The Christmas hug stamp features a child hugging and kissing another child who is holding a teddy bear with a background of warm candlelight. The Angel stamp features a child face figure with feather white wings. These stamps were design by Susanna Rumpu and Ari Lakaniemi. Postage values are Christmas Tree Boy First Class, Christmas Hug 0.65 Euro and a 2nd class Angel stamp. The Christmas Hug stamp can be purchase as a single and Sheets of 20, and the Tree boy and Angel Stamps can be purchase as singles and Sheets of 20.
