Switzerland Christmas 2013 Stamp Issue

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Iceland, Australia and Switzerland. Each of their 2013 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Iceland issued three new Christmas stamps named "Christmas Stained Glass Windows" on October 31, 2013. These stamps depict parts of the stain glassed window above the door of Hallgrimskirkja in Reykjavik. They were designed by Orn Smari Gislason and they depict three parts of the window. Note: the AR code is built into all these stamps. Their postage values include B50g domestic non priority mail (ISK 103), 50g domestic (ISK 120), and 50g to Europe (ISK 175) domestic rate. They can be purchased as a set of 3, Sheets of 10, Assorted Blocks, and Assorted FDCs. The size of each stamp is 28mm x 35mm. They were printed by Cartor Security Printing using the offset lithography plus varnished printing process with 247g self adhesive paper.

Australia issued four new stamps named "Christmas 2013" on 1st of November 2013. These stamps were design by John White who is part of the Australia Post Design Studio team. The stamps feature four festive Christmas items that are a big part of Christmas season. They include the Christmas tree, a gift, a lit candle and a bell. They can be purchased in various assortments, assorted booklets, Stamp packs, and Assorted FDC's. The size of each stamp is 26mm x 37.5mm, with a perforation size of 14.6 x 13.86 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by McKellar Renown using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper.

Switzerland issued four new Christmas stamps named "A Christmas Story in Four Stamps" on November 14, 2013. These stamps were design by Steffy Merz, Berne and feature four different animals that are part of a Christmas story. This Christmas story is about a meeting held in the forest by all the animals. Each of them described their own special Christmas needs. The story is too long to list here. So if your interested, you will have to go to the Swiss post to find out what its all about. The postage values of these stamps is 0.85, 1.00, 1.40 and 1.90 Chf. They can be purchased as a set of 4, Sheets of 20, Assorted Blocks of 4, Folder, Collection sheet and assorted FDCs. The size of each stamp is 33 x 28mm with a perforation size of 13 3/4 x 14 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Joh. Enschede, Haarlem, Netherlands using the offset 4 color printing method with 220g gms paper.
