It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. But for this week, we visited four: Ireland, Norway, Guernsey and Finland. Each of their 2012 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Ireland issued three new Christmas stamps named "Christmas Candle, The Adoration of the Shepherds and The Adoration of Magi" on November 8th, 2012. These stamps were designed by Zinc Design Consultants. They depict a Christmas candle and two different painted Biblical scenes done by Girolamo Troppa and Jan Bruegel. The stamps have postage values of 0.55 and 0.82 Euro. The candle stamps can be purchased in booklets of 26 self-adhesive stamps and the Biblical scenes (SOAR) stamps can be purchase as a pair. Both are on a single FDC. The size of the candle stamps is 25mm x 30mm with a perforation of 13 using the 2cm reference; and the size of the Biblical scenes (SOAR) stamps is 56mm x 25mm with a perforation of 11 x 11.25 using the 2cm reference. The candles stamps were printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print using the Lithography printing process; and the Biblical scenes stamps were printed by Label Art Ltd. using HP Indigo high resolution digital print (SOAR).

Norway postal service issued two new Christmas stamps named "Christmas 2012" on 12th of November 2012. Designed by Kristin Granli, these stamps are illustrations from a famous Christmas story written by Hans Normann Dahl's. The left stamp above depicts Carpenter Andersen meeting with Santa Claus and the right stamp above depicts Mrs Claus and the children. Both stamps have postage values of A domestic and can be purchased as a pair, and FDC's. They were printed by Joh. Enschede Security Print using the offset printing process.

Guernsey issued seven new stamps named "Christmas Story" on October 31, 2012. These seven new stamps depict the story of Jesus Christ. They were designed by Wendy Bramall and they have postage values are 34p, 36p, 52p, 59p, 69p, and 74p. They can be purchased as a set of 7, and FDC's. The size of the stamps is 30.6mm x 38mm with perforation of 13.25 x 13 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Cartor Security Printers using the Offset Lithography printing process with 110gsm PVA adhesive paper.

Finland postal service issued a new Christmas stamps named "Christmas Tree". It was designed by Nina Rintala and depicts a Christmas Tree decorated with gingerbreads, hearts and candles. It can be purchased as a single, Sheet of 20 and FDC's. Sorry! no specification available.
