It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit United States of America(USA), Faroe Islands and Aland Finland. Each of their 2011 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

USA issued four new Christmas stamps named "Holiday Baubles" on October 13, 2011. The stamps were designed by William J. Glicker and have a postage value of 1st class forever. Each of the stamps depicts a colorful ornament that is sure to add to the joys of this holiday seasons. Years ago trees were trimmed with fruit, nuts, candies or paper. It wasn't until the late 19th century in Germany that these glass ornaments first appear. There use gain popular very quickly and spread to other countries. These stamps can be purchased in double sided booklet of 20 or ATM Sheetlets of 18. The size of each stamp is 23.11mm x 30.22mm and the size of the Booklet is 145.80mm x 60.45mm. They were printed by Banknote Corporation of America using the Offset/Microprint printing process with Type II self adhesive paper. A total of 900 million stamps will be printed.

Faroe Islands issued two new stamps named "Christmas Carols II" on September 28, 2011. They were designed by Anker Eli Petersen and have postage values or 6.50 and 10.50 KR. These stamps feature two different Christmas carols: I can't wait for Christmas to come(6.5KR) written by Ella Smith Clementsen, and I Rejoice every Christmas Eve(10.5KR) written by Marie Wexelsen. They can be purchased as a set of 2, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 27mm x 40mm. They were printed using the offset printing process.

Aland issued a new stamp named "A Flower for Christmas" on October 7, 2011. The stamp was design by Helene Schmitz and features the flower hyacinth with a postage value of Julpost (0.55 Euro). The stamp can be purchased as a single, Sheets of 40, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 36 x 24.8mm with a Perforation size of 13+ using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Southern Color Print using the 4 color offset printing process with 125gms paper. A total of 360,000 will be printed.
