It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit United States of America (USA), San Marino and Norway. Each of their 2010 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

USA issued five new Christmas stamps named "Holiday Evergreens and Angel with Lute" on October 21, 2010. The Holiday Evergreens stamps were designed by Howard E. Pane and feature close-up views of the foliage and cones of four different conifers: ponderosa pine, eastern red cedar, balsam fir and blue spruce. They can be purchased in a double sided Booklets of 20 or first day cover (FDC). The size of each stamp is 23.11mm x 30.22mm ; and the size of the booklet is 145.8mm x 60.45mm. They will be printed by Banknote Corporation of America using the Offset printing process. Total quantity printed: 2 billion stamps.
The Angel with Lute stamp was designed by Terrence W. McCaffrey and features a detail of a fragment of a painting by Melozzo da Forli (1438–1494). The stamp depicts an angel with a halo strums and a lute. The original fresco fragment, now in Room IV of the Vatican Pinacoteca (art museum), measures approximately 37 inches by 46 inches. This stamp can be purchase in a pane of 20, Block of 10, Block of 4 or FDC. The size of each stamp is 23.11mm x 30.23mm ; and the size of the pane is 139.7mm x 146.5mm. They will be printed by Avery Dennison using the Gravure printing process. Total quantity printed: 400 million stamps.

San Marino issued three new stamps named "Christmas 2010" on October 5th, 2010. These stamps were design by Sezioneaurea.sm and feature a Christmas tree on a red, green and blue background. The Christmas trees have been decorated with gold and silver ornaments; and can be purchased as a set of 3, or FDC The size of each stamp is 40 x 30mm with a perforation size of 13.25 x 13.50 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Carter Security Printing using the offset printing process and gold and silver hot foil printing. Total quantity printed: 70,000 sets on sheets of 20.

Norway issued two new stamps named "Christmas 2010" on November 15, 2010. These stamps were design by Inger Sandved Anfinsen and feature two different embroidery stamps that depict a rain deer and a candle holder. The stamps can be purchased as a set of 2, or FDC. They will be printed by Royal Joh. Enschede, Netherlands using the offset printing process.
