Christmas Islands Christmas 2010 Stamp Issue

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Canada, Australia and Christmas Island. Each of their 2010 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Canada issued three new Christmas stamps named "Christmas Ornaments" on November 1, 2010. The stamps were designed by Michael Zavacky, McMillan. Each of the stamps depicts multiple shapes of glass blown bulbs with a snowflake at their center surrounded by multiple colors. They can be purchased in Booklets of 6 or 12, Souvenir sheet, Gutter of 12 or FDC. The size of each stamp is 32mm x 32mm with a 13+ simulated perforation using the 2cm reference; and the size of the Souvenir sheet is 116mm X 60mm. They will be printed by The Lowe Martin using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russel paper.

Australia issued two new stamps named "Christmas 2010" on November 1, 2010. These stamps were design by Bruce Goold and feature illustrations when Jesus Christ was born. The 55c depicts when Jesus was born; and the $1.30 depicts when the angel told the good news to shepherds tending their flocks. They can be purchased as a set of 2, 55c as booklet of 20, $1.30 as sheetlet of 5, Stamp pack, or FDC The size of each stamp is 26 x 37.5mm with a perforation size of 14.6 x 13.86 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by McKellar Renown using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper.

Christmas Island issued two new stamps named "Christmas Island Christmas" on November 1, 2010. These stamps were design by Sharon Rodziewicz and feature the islands natural heritage to the tropical Christmas theme. The 60 cents stamp depicts the Golden Bosunbird that surveys the island from above to find a place to deliver its Christmas gift. The $1.30 stamp depicts a delivered Christmas gift delivery by the Bosunbird. These stamps can be purchased as a set of 2, 60c as booklet of 10, $1.30 as sheetlet of 5, or FDC. The size of each stamp is 26 x 37.5mm with a Perforation size of 13.86 x 14.6 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by McKellar Renown using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper.
