It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Australia, Canada and San Marino. Each of their 2009 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Australia issued two new stamps named "Christmas 2009" on November 2, 2009. The stamps represents "Mary with Baby Jesus" and the "Three Wise Men". They show scenes from the religious story of the Nativity and were design by Sharon Rodziewicz. The size of each stamp is 26mm x 37.5mm with a perforation of 14.6 x 13.86 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Mckellar, Aeorgramme-Geon using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper.

Canada issued three new booklet stamps named "The Nativity Scene" on November 2, 2009. These stamps depict three sculptures by Antionio Caruso. The international stamp features the Shepherd; the domestic stamps features Madonna and Child; and the USA stamp features Magi. They were design by Joseph Gault. Each stamp size is 24.75 x 32.25mm and has a Perforation size of 13+ using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Lowe-Martin using the Lithography printing process.

San Marino issued a new souvenir sheet with two stamps named "Christmas" on October 21st, 2009. This souvenir sheet features a painting named "Rest on the flight into Egypt" done by Caravaggio. The painting depicts Saint Joseph Old and weary, as he holds up a score for an angel playing the violin. The size of each stamps is 45mm x 33mm, and the size of the souvenir sheet is 137mm 105mm. Stamps Perforation size is 13.75 x 14 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Carter Security Printing using the Offset printing process.
