Switzerland Christmas 2010 Stamp Issue

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Iceland and Switzerland. Each of their 2010 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Iceland issued two new stamps named "The Christmas Stamps" on November 4, 2010. The main theme is the circular form in the colors of winter, the circle also symbolizing the earth, its sesons and infinity. On the left stamp above the circle is covered with snow crystals; and the stamp on the right is covered with snow flakes. Both stamps depict the Icelandic birds of winter, the snow bunting. The size of each stamp is 29mm x 35mm and can be purchased in sheets of 10 or Booklets of 10. A booklet size is 55 x 110mm closed. They will be printed by The Lowe Martin Group using the offset Litho printing process with 250gms Tullis Russel self adhesive paper.

Switzerland issued three new stamps named "The invisible Christmas Present" on November 13, 2009. These stamps were design by Jenny Leibundgut and feature a Santa Claus Hat, Christmas Tree and a Gift. Each one of the stamps has a tiny glittering silver star that sparkles and shines in the light. The size of each stamp is 28 x 33mm and the size of the 20 stamp sheets is 140 x 195mm. Perforation size is 13 1/2 x 13 1/4 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Cartor Security Printing using the offset 4 color and hot foil stamping and printing processes.
