It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Finland, Iceland and Sweden. Each of their 2008 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Finland issued three new stamps named "Getting the Christmas Tree", "Round Game" and "Frosty Night" on November 6th, 2008. A short description is listed below:

Getting the Christmas Tree and Round Game stamps were designed by Julia Vuori. The stamps have postage values of 60 Euro and 1st Class(0.80 Euro). One stamp depicts a large bear and a small bear who have gone to get their Christmas tree in the woods. The other stamp depicts two squirrels, a Hedgehog and a hare dancing around a Christmas tree.

Getting the Christmas Tree stamp can be purchased as a single, in a Sheet of 20, or FDC. It size is 34.5mm x 24.5mm with a safety perforation. The sheet size is 150mm x 213mm. It will be printed by Walsall Security Printers, UK using the web offset printing methods with self-adhesive stamp paper. A quantity of 43 million will be printed.

Round Game stamps can be purchased as a single, in a sheet of 10, or FDC. It size is 24.5mm x 34.5mm with a safety perforation. The sheet size is 162mm x 109mm and will be printed by Joh. Enschede Stamps, the Netherlands using the gravure printing method with self-adhesive paper. A quantity of 6 million will be printed

Frosty Night stamp can be purchased as a single stamp, Sheet of 10 or FDC. It was designed by Nina Rintala and has a postage value of 1st Class(0.80 Euro). It depicts snow flakes with one large detailed snow flake. This stamp is the first see-through or transparent stamp issued in the world. Its size is 34.5mm x 24.5mm with safety perforation. The sheet size is 103.7mm x 210mm. It will be printed by Joh. Enschede Stamps, the Netherlands using the gravure printing method with PET Clear, TC50, Raflatac 225g paper. A quantity of 5 million will be issued.

Iceland issued two new stamps named "Christmas stamps" on November 6th, 2008. These stamps were designed by two children who won the Iceland post competition for the best Christmas Stamps. The stamps depict a Yule Goblin Stiff-legs and a Christmas Cat. Each of the stamps is described below:

Christmas Stamps 08 were design by Hlynur Olafsson and have postage values of 70 and 90 ISK. Each stamp size is 31mm x 30mm and the booklet size of 70mm x 100mm. They will be printed by Carter Security Printing using the offset printing method. The stamps can be purchase as singles, sheets of 10, booklets of 10(70ISK), or FDC.

Sweden issued four new stamps named "Christmas Doors" on November 13, 2008. The stamps feature four different Christmas door decoration. Each of the stamps is described below:

Christmas Doors stamps were design by Gunnar Kaj and have a postage value of 5 SEK. Each stamp size is 28.87mm x 28.84mm and will be printed using the offset printing method. The stamps can be purchase in booklet of 10, Collector's Sheet, and FDC.
