Switzerland Christmas 2008 Stamp Issue

It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover two or three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Australia and Switzerland. Each of their 2008 Christmas stamp issues are shown above and some information about them is listed below.

Australia issued four new stamps named "Christmas 2008" on October 31st, 2008. A short description is listed below:

Christmas 2008 stamps were designed by Melinda Coombes and Adam Crapp. The stamps have postage values of 50 cents, 55 cents and $1.20 Three stamps depict figures from the Christmas story and the Nativity. One stamp depicts various Christmas bulbs that are used to decorate the home Christmas Tree. These stamps can be purchased in a set of 4, Sheets of 5 or 10, Various booklets, Stamp Pack, Gutters or various FDC's. The stamp size is 26mm x 37.5mm with a perforation size is 14.6 x 13.86 using the 2cm reference. The sheet size is 104mm x 190mm. They will be printed by McKellar Renown using the Lithography/Flexographic printing methods with Tullis Russel gummed and B100 s-a paper.

Switzerland issued three new stamps named "Christmas 08" on November 21, 2008. The stamps feature a bulb, a star and a bell which are key items for decorating during the Christmas season. Each of the stamps is described below:

Christmas Stamps 08 were design by Jenny Leibundgut, Berne and have postage values of 85, 100 and 130 CHF. Each stamp size is 28mm x 33mm and a sheet size of 140mm x 195mm. Perforation size is 13 1/2 x 13 1/4 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Carter Security Printing, France using the offset printing method with 110gms gummed paper. The stamps can be purchase in a set of 3, Sheets of 20, 4 blocks, Folder, Collection Sheet and various FDC's.
