It's that time again when postal services around the world issue their new Christmas Stamps. This year we decided to cover three different countries a week in our newsletter until Christmas. This week we visit Guernsey, San Marino and Switzerland. Each of their 2006 Christmas stamp issues and specification are listed below.

Guernsey issued a twelve stamp set named "The Twelve Days of Christmas". This set was designed by Mark Wilkinson and issued on November 2, 2006. The stamps depict the twelve gifts given by a suitor to a true love described in each verse of the song 'The twelve days of Christmas' that was first published in 1780. Each stamp size is 31mm x 26mm with a perforation size of 14.5 x 14.75 They will be printed by Osterreichische Staatsdruckerei GmbH using the Offset Lithography Printing process with 110gms PVA adhesive paper.

San Marino issued a five stamp set designed by Velerio Pradal and named "Christmas 2006". The stamps depict a famous painting and four different sections of that painting done by Tiepolo in 1732. Each stamps was issued on November 13th 2006. The size of each stamp is 30mm x 30mm for the 0.60 and 0.65 Euro stamps and 30mm x 40.5mm for the 2.80 Euro stamp. Perforation size is 13 x 12 and each stamp will be printed in sheets of 15. The stamps will be printed by Carter Security Printing using the Offset printing process. A quantity of 105,000 will be printed.

Switzerland issued 2 new stamps designed by Michele Haas and named "Enhancing Christmas" on the 21st of November 2006. The stamps depict two popular Christmas customs: star-singers and an advent wreath. The size of each stamp is 28mm x 33mm with a 13 3/4 x 13 1/2 perforation size. They will be printed in sheets of 20 by Cartor Security Printing using the Offset printing process with 110gms gummed paper.
