Road World Championships
The Canada Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 48 Cents named "Road World Championships" on the 10th of September 2003. This new stamp will advertise the upcoming cycling competition in the city of Hamilton, Ontario being held between October 6-12, 2003. It is considered the biggest event every held in Hamilton. More than 250,000 spectators are expected to attend and watch 800 athletes from over 50 countries compete in this event. The event will also be televised worldwide bringing another expected 500 million viewers. There will be five categories of racers:
The "Road World Championships" stamp can be purchased as a mint single stamp booklet of 8 stamps, either sealed or unsealed. The size of each stamp is 48mm x 26mm with a stamp perforation size of 13+. The stamps will be printed by Canadian Bank Note using the Lithography in 6 colors printing process with Tullis Russell Coated paper with General 4 sides tagging and P.V.A. Gum. A quantity of 4,000,000 will be printed.
