Franklin the Turtle

The Canada Postal Service will issue four new stamps that have a postage value of permanent domestic rate named "Franklin the Turtle" on the 11th of May 2012. These new stamps feature the popular Canadian kids character Franklin the Turtle with all his friends. The first stamp in the series is dedicated to that warm and wonderful little reptile who encourages children to come out of their shells named Franklin the Turtle (also know as Benjamin the Turtle to French-Canadian readers). Created by author Paulette Bourgeois and illustrator Brenda Clark, this popular character has been in 100 different tales that have produce more then 65 million in book sales in 30 different languages. It also has inspired television shows as well as other media and products. This issue will include a reality maze game on the back cover of the booklet.

"Franklin the Turtle" stamps can be purchase as a Booklet of 12, Souvenir sheet, and Souvenir Sheet FDC. The size of the each stamp is 24.75mm x 32.25mm and Souvenir sheet size will be 150mm x 100mm. Each will have a perforation size of 13+ using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Lowe-Martin using the Lithography printing method. The booklet will have pressure sensitive gum and the souvenir sheet will have P.V.A. gum. A total of 7.2 million booklets and 300,000 souvenir sheets will be printed.
