Roadside Attractions

The Canada Postal Service has issued four new stamps that have a postage value of 57 Cents each named "Roadside Attractions" on the 5th of July 2010. These stamps are being issued to commemorate the popular roadside attraction found on TransCanada highways. It is the second set that has been issued by Canada. The first set was issued in 2009 and is still available if your interested in purchasing them. This second issued stamp set is described in the list below:

  • Coffee Pot - is 7.3 meters tall and has the capacity to fill nearly 150,000 cups of coffee. This special coffee pot welcomes all vistors to Davidson SK.
  • Happy Rock - is a town mascot that welcomes all visitors to the town Gladstone, Manitoba's.
  • Wawa Goose - located just outside the town of Wawa, Ojibwe alerts visitors that the town is a stopover for flocks of Canada Geese headed south for the winter.
  • Giant Atlantic Puffin - alerts visitors that this seabird colonies can be found around shores of Longue-Pointe-de-Mingan.

"Roadside Attractions" stamps can be purchased as a booklet of 8, Souvenir Sheet of 4, and FDC. The size of the booklet stamps is 35.25mm x 41.5mm and the size or the souvenir sheet is 98mm x 109mm. Stamp perforation is kiss cut for the booklet and 13+ for the souvenir sheet stamps using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Lowe-Martin using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper. The booklet stamps use a pressure sensitive Gum and the souvenir sheet uses a PVA gum. A quantity of 3.88 million booklets will be printed and 210,000 Souvenir sheets will be printed.
