The Canadian Horse and the Newfoundland Pony

Canada Postal Service has issued two new stamps with a postage value of 54 cents named "The Canadian Horse and the Newfoundland Pony" on the 15th of May 2009. This commemorative horse and pony stamp is being issued to honor them for their contribution to Canada's earliest settlements. The first stamp features the Canadian Horse which was resilience in the face of harsh weather condition and could outwork and outlived larger breeds of horses. It earned the nickname "The Little Iron Horse." The Newfoundland Pony is considered the all purpose pony. It also adapted to the harsh climate of the North Atlantic and dates back to Canada's 17th and 18th centuries. Both of these horses are now being protected by their governments.

"The Canadian Horse and the Newfoundland Pony" stamps can be purchased in a booklet of 10 or FDC. The size of each stamp is 39.75 x 32.25mm with a simulated perforation. They will be printed by Lowe-Martin using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper. A quantity of 4 million will be printed
