Canadians in Hollywood: The Sequel

Canada Postal Service will issue four new stamps with a postage value of 52 Cents each named "Canadians in Hollywood: The Sequel" on the 30th of June 2008. These stamps depict four famous Canadian Moviestars who made it in Hollywood. Each of the movie stars is listed below:

  • Chief Dan George - (Top Left) made his fame at age 60 in the CBC series Cariboo Country. When Disney studios adapted the series into the movie Smith! Dan George found himself under the Hollywood spotlight and began to play roles in other movies. He play roles in the movies Little Big Man, The Outlaw Josey Wales and Harry and Tonto.
  • Norma Shearer - (Top Right) know as the first lady of talkies. Made it big in the 1920's movie "The Stealers" where she was notice by MGM's general manager, Irving Thalberg. From there on she star in many other movies such as "Trial of Mary Dugan" and "Barretts of Wimpole Street"
  • Raymond Burr - (Bottom Left) is best know for his television roles as lawyer Perry Mason and chief of detectives Robert Ironside in Ironside. He also made numerous films such as Duke in Darkness(1944) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters(1956).
  • Marie Dressler - (Bottom Right) know as the first female star of film comedy. Made her first full length film comedy in a movie named Tillie's which was about a Punctured Romance. She made many more films during her career that included Min and Bill(1930), Anna Christie(1930), Dinner at Eight(1933) and Tugboat Annie(1933).

"Canadians in Hollywood: The Sequel" stamps can be purchased in a booklet of 8, Set of 4 Booklets, Souvenir sheet of 4, or Souvenir Sheet FDC. The size of the stamp is 30.75mm x 48.25mm and the size of the Souvenir Sheet is 136mm x 77mm. The booklet stamps have a simulated perforation and the Souvenir sheet stamps has a perforation of 13 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Canadian Bank Note using the Lithography printing process with Spicers paper. The gum type for the booklet stamps is pressure sensitive and the gum type for the souvenir sheet is P.V.A. Quantity printed of each is listed below:

  • Booklet of 8 stamps - 4,500,000
  • Souvenir Sheet of 4 - 300,000
  • Set of 4 Booklets - 5,000
