Art Canada: Yousuf Karsh Souvenir Sheet Canada Postal Service will issue three new stamps with postage values of 52 cents, 96 cents and $1.60 named "Art Canada: Yousuf Karsh" on the 21st of May 2008. These stamps are being issued to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Yousuf Karsh birth. A famous Canadian black and white photographer who used complex tones of black and white to capture individual personality. He became an instant worldwide know photographer when he photograph British prime minister Winston Churchill in 1941. The photo appeared on the cover of Life magazine as an embodiment of British wartime resolve. Karsh created this expression of Churchill when he politely took away his cigar. It was said that Churchhill refused to pose without his customary lit cigar and was not very happy when Karsh took it away. The other two stamps depict the famous actress Audrey Hepburn and Karsh himself. "Art Canada" stamps can be purchased as a Souvenir Sheet of 3, Pane of 16 Karsh stamps, Booklets of 8 Churchhill and Hepburn stamps, or FDC's. The size of the Karsh stamp is 32mm x 40mm, and the size of the Souvenir sheet is 150mm x 87mm, and the size of the booklet stamps is 32.25mm x 39.75mm. Perforation size for the Karsh stamps and the Souvenir sheet is 13+ and the booklets have a simulated perforation. They will be printed by Lowe-Martin using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper.
