Year of the Pig Souvenir Sheet

Canada Postal Service has issued a new stamp that has a postage value of 52 cents named "Year of the Pig" on the 5th of January 2007. The stamp features a decorated pig running, a river, and the Jade Emperor. Legend has it that the Lunar New Years names were selected in the order that animals finish a race across a river. The Jade Emperor monitor the race and created the names for each Lunar New Year as the animals cross the finish line. This is the eleventh issue within a 12 Year series being issued by the Canada Post.

"Year of the Pig" stamps can be purchased as a Souvenir Sheet, Sheet of 25, Uncut press sheet, or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 40mm x 25mm with a Perforation size of 13+ using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Lowe-Martin using the Lithography, foil stampings, and embossing Printing process with Tullis Russell Coated paper. The quantity printed of each is:

  • Sheets 8,000,000
  • Souvenir Sheet 700,000
  • Uncut Press Sheet 15,000
