Fishes of the Reef Part 1 and 2

The Australia Postal Service has issued eight new stamps that have postage values of 5c, 60c, $1.20, $1.80, and $3.00 named "Fishes of the Reef Part I and II" on the 21st (Part I) and 28th (Part II) of June 2010. These stamps depict Australia's tropical and subtropical waters marine life in the reef areas. The Great Barries Reef in Australia is the largest coral reef system in the world. It spans more than 2000 kilometres of Australia north-eastern coast; and is the home of an estimated 1500 species of Fishes, 8000 species of Molluscs and 360 species of corals. Each of the fish shown on the stamps is listed in the table below:

  • 5c - Coral Rabbitfish (Top)
  • 60c - Clown Tiggerfish (Second Row Left)
  • 60c - Spotted Sweetlips (Second Row Right)
  • 60c - Golden Damsel (Third Row Left)
  • 60c - Regal Angelfish (Third Row Right)
  • $1.20 Saddle Butterflyfish (Forth Row)
  • $1.80 Chevron Butterflyfish (Fifth Row Left)
  • $3.00 Orangefin Anemonfish (Fifth Row Right)

"Fishes of the Reef Part 1 & 2" stamp can be purchased as a set of 8, Modules of 50(60c as block of 4), Booklet of 10 and 20, Rolls of 100 and 200, Stamp Pack, and various FDC's. The size of the smaller stamps is 30mm x 25mm and the size of the $3.00 stamp is 50mm x 30mm. Stamp perforation size is 14 x 14.4 for the smaller stamps and 14.6 x 14 for the $3.00 stamp. Both use the the 2cm reference for perforation measurement. They will be printed by Mckellar Renown using the Lithography printing process.
