Australia's Favorite Stamps

To celebrate 200 Years of Service the Australia Postal Service will issue five new stamps with a postage value of 55 cents named "Australia's Favorite Stamps " on the 26th of June 2009. These stamps depict the public's most favorite stamps that were issued by the Australia Post since 1850. Australia Post invited the public to choose from 150 stamps representing Australian culture and heritage, major events and significant achievements since the first stamps were issued by New South Wales in 1850. The results are listed in the table below:

  • 2 Pound Kangaroo and Map issued between 1913
  • 5s Opening of Sydney Harbour Bridge 1932
  • 2 1/2 Pence and Victory 1946
  • 8 1/2 Gwoya Jungarai often known as the "One Pound Jimmy" 1950
  • 6d Kookaburra 1914

"Australia's Favorite Stamps" can be purchased as a set of 5, Prestige cover, Stamp pack, Prestige booklet, Gutter of 10, Roll of 200, Strip of 5, Collector pack, Special Presentation pack, Special souvenir stamp sheet or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 37.5mm x 26mm with a perforation of 13.86 x 14.6 using the 2cm reference. They will be printed by Energi Print/Pemara/Mckellar using the Lithography printing process with Tullis Russell paper.
