Megafauna
Australia Postal Service has issued 6 new stamps that have postage values of 55 Cents and $1.10 named "Megafauna" on the 1st of October 2008. These stamps depict an extraordinary range of giant creatures that roamed the Australian continent many thousands and even millions of years ago, and became extinct between 20,000 and 50,000 years ago. The reason for their extinction is unknown. But it is hypothesize, that climate change or humans were the cause of their extinction. Each of the Megafauna depicted on the stamps are listed below:
"Megafauna" stamps can be purchased as a set of 6, Sheets of 50 and 24, Mini-sheet, Stamp Pack, Prestige Booklet, Booklets, Rolls, Collector's Pack or FDC's. The size of the stamps is 26mm x 37.5mm and 52mm x 37.5mm with a perforation size of 14.6 x 13.86 using the 2cm reference. Size of the Mini-sheet is 160mm x 90mm. They will be printed by Energi Print using the Lithography printing method with Tullis Russel gummed paper.
