Christmas Island Underwater

Australia Postal Service will issue a new sheet of 20 stamps with postage values of 10, 25 & 50 Cents named "Christmas Island Underwater" on the 13th of July 2004. The stamps depict various pictures of fish and marine life found in the Coral reefs of Christmas Island. These Coral reefs are located in the Indo-Pacific region and have a world-wide reputation as unique dive sites. The island is the summit of a submarine mountain. Its 80km coastline is an almost continuous sea cliff. The island is surrounded by coral reefs and its waters are teeming with tropical fish and other sea life. Some of the fish and sea life include: butterflyfish, tropical snapper, whale shark, triggerfish, angelfish, coral cod, groper, surgeonfish and damselfish, along with other marine life, such as green turtle, coral, clam, sea star, sea squirt and nudibranch.

"Christmas Island Underwater" stamps can be purchased as Mint sheet of 20 stamps, Stamp Pack, or FDC's. The size of each stamp is 26 mm x 37.50 mm with a perforation size of 14.4 x 13.86, and the size of the sheet is 156 mm x 176 mm. The stamps will be printed by SNP Sprint using Tullis Russell paper.
