Popular Music Festivals

The Aland Finland Postal Service has issued two new stamps that have a postage value of 1.10 Euro named "Popular Music Festivals" on the 6th of July 2013. The stamps depict two popular music festivals named Island of the Sun, and Rockoff. Island of the Sun Festival was first arranged in August of 2008 on the small island of Jurmo. It was organized by a non-profit volunteer organization working to promote music in Aland. Each year this festival has grown with visitors attendance reaching 800 in 2012.
Rockoff fesitival is held in Mariehamn during the summer at the end of July. It last 9 days and has attracted 40,000 visitors, tourists and locals. Most of the artist that perform come from Sweden and Finland. But there are some other popular bands, that get to perform on the most popular stage in Aland.

"Popular Music Festivals" stamps can be purchase as singles, Sheets of 2 x 16 stamps, or FDC. The size of the stamps is 26.10mm x 40.32mm with a Stamp perforation of 13 using the 2cm reference. They were printed by Joh. Enschede Stamps using the 4 color offset printing process with 102gsm paper. A total of 2 x 170,000 were printed.
