Loons and Grebes

The Aland Postal Service will issue four new stamps that have a postage value of 1.10 Euro named "Loons and Grebes" on the 5th of April 2013. This is Aland postal service third issue of WWF stamps (World Wildlife Fund). Two previous issues were in 1996 with Eagle Owls and 2001 with Stellers Eiders. All Worldwide fund stamps feature endangered species; and the Aland postal service donates part of the sales to the WWF to help them preserve these endangered species. The Loons and grebes depicted on each stamps is listed below:

  • Black-throated Loon (top left)
  • Red-throated Loon (top right)
  • Great Drested Grebe (bottom left)
  • The Horned Grebe (bottom right)

"Loons and Grebes" stamps can be purchase as a set of 4, Booklet of 8 or FDC. The size of the each stamp is 35 x 26.56mm with a perforation size of 13 using the 2cm reference. The size of the booklet is 181 x 62.5mm. They will be printed by Printing House Posten Sverige using the 4 color offset printing method with 98gsm paper. Total being issued will be 95,000 booklets
